This book should
be a resource in every veteran counseling clinic.” ~ Rusty Fairbanks
From the Authors
We cared to spend many years studying soldiers who have returned
and
what life was like upon their immediate return to civilian life.
We attempted to understand where soldiers have been, through soldiers willing and able
to talk about some of their experiences in hot zones.
We must attempt to understand what it is like in a war zone, to help ease a soldiers return.
Then the question became how to best present the concept
of an additional beacon to assist in their return.
So, we created the inspirational novella and journal...
DECOMPRESSION MAP
“
“Loving it!! You
are introducing a fantastic concept. It's TERRIFIC!!”
"Decompression
Map" Review - My father was an immigrant who loved this country and raised
the American flag every day. He had nightmares about World War II until the day
he died ... that day was 9/11 and the last thing he saw were the twin towers going down. PTSD? Who knows? But I wish I had this
book when he used to wake up screaming. God bless these two authors for their
obvious labor of love. The Decompression Map is brilliant. I hope the
Department of Defense is paying attention. Now we won't have to feel so
helpless when all we can think of to say is "Welcome Home." ~ Pj

“With so much interest in Journal Writing,
truth, and readers wanting to hear from the actual writer - not only is this
timely, but you have given soldiers a place to share their own words, ever to
be lost - a personal historical look at life during the war, records and words
families sometimes never hear. It is difficult for soldiers to speak about it,
but to write about it makes perfect sense. Thanks Claudette for giving soldiers
a place to speak out about their live in combat.”~ Nancy Denofio
..an interesting read, I must say. ~ John
Moore
This is a must
read for anybody coming home from combat duty and their family! This book can
really help Veteran's transition back into Civilian Life after returning home
so quickly after combat. Used as an Aid for family and friends of soldiers
returning home. It gives you good clues on making the returning soldiers
comfortable. Nice Job Ladies! ~ Amazon Review

The "Decompression Map" is inspired by true events.
It is designed to
bring a soldier back from war in a more calm way.
That is only possible, if we attempt to understand
where they have been...
"Every soldier returning from a war zone needs time to decompress and a way to readapt to civilian life. That has been true for at least a century. Most recently, many of the men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are having a hard time adjusting to life at home."
~ L.Cpl. Garner, Eric S., USMC
No
magic can relieve the horrors of war that follow soldiers home. Members of the
military need a way to calm their pain, anxiety, and turmoil– a game plan to
ease back into civilian life. The soldiers’ excitement about returning to
family and friends can often be overwhelming.
Some soldiers are less than 72 hours out of a war zone when they
reach their native soil. The traditional homecoming may not be the only way to
welcome GIs back. The noise and crowds may create extra stress for veterans.
Some may need a different means to relieve pressure, one that is more relaxed –
a decompression map of sorts. This novella could be any soldier’s story.
You will meet a fictional family, one in which four generations
went to war – Josh is returning from Afghanistan to his wife Lucy in
California, following in the footsteps of relatives who have served in Korea,
Vietnam, and Iraq. Military members could return by using their own
decompression map, based on his or her civilian life. Family or friends who
knew them before deployment can lend their knowledge to help. This is our
method of opening up conversation about new ideas to welcome and decompress
returning soldiers worldwide. May our novella serve all soldiers and families well
in their time of adjustment. Welcome home.
The eBook includes the novella and
prompt pages at the end to make your individual decompression map. The
bound book will be release June 15, 2012 and contains the
novella, decompression map guide and a write-able journal for soldiers.
